Municipal Employees Colony Main RoadAt Bloomingdale International School, International Yoga Day was more than a date on the calendar it was a moment of stillness in the midst of learning.
Students gathered on the floor of the school's spacious hall, shoes set aside, minds set free. Under the calm guidance of their yoga instructor, the session opened with breathing exercises and meditation, drawing young minds inward before the world could pull them outward. Eyes closed, spines straight, hands resting gently — the room grew quiet in the best possible way.

From meditative silence, the energy gradually rose. Students flowed through a series of asanas that tested their focus, flexibility, and balance. The Vrikshasana (Tree Pose) demanded steadiness; the Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) invited a joyful upward gaze; the Bakasana (Crow Pose) challenged core strength and confidence in equal measure. There were wobbles, and there were triumphs and both were met with encouragement.
What made the session truly special was the spirit in the room.

A student stretched into cobra pose with a grin that could light up a classroom. Another held the tree pose with quiet, determined focus. Arms reached skyward, breath moved in unison, and for a while, the school felt less like an institution and more like a community breathing together.
The instructor, himself leading by example demonstrating poses with ease and precision, including an impressive crow pose hold kept the atmosphere warm, accessible, and inspiring for learners of every level.
Yoga Day at BIS was a reminder that education isn't only about what happens at a desk. Strength, focus, breath, and balance are lessons too ones that stay with a student long after the school bell rings.
